This January transfer window proves to be a period of intense speculation and possible major deals. A number of high-profile footballers are being linked with moves out of their present teams. We examine some of the major figures that are poised to be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward in contention, reports suggest a major move is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a substantial release clause applicable for a short period in early January. Recent developments point to Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other options, potentially opening the door for teams like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute bid.

Marc Guéhi

This English defender has continued to impress for Palace despite a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his deal due to expire in the summer, this represents the club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite clubs, such as City and multiple European giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. Yet, a January exit remains unlikely, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has found starting minutes limited at Tottenham this term. Although being the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a small number of Premier League games. Reports suggest the North London outfit would be open to a sale for the right valuation, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally credited with an inquiry.

Rúben Neves

The Portugal playmaker might be set for a comeback to the Premier League after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just 28, and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a possible opportunity. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the player. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spain that he would be prepared to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça following new coach Flick. Having lost his place and undergone surgery, a winter exit looks increasingly likely. Villa were once linked as a potential destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific English centre-forward has continued scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his fading hopes of being in the England World Cup. With his current deal nearing its end, many Premier League clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but face a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is heavily tipped to complete a big-money transfer this month. Newcastle United are believed to be frontrunners, but could face stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
